Of all of Nostradamus' prophecies, none were more accurate than the one that stated See You At Recess Bitches and Gotta have More Cowbell would meet in the Championship game of the Fall Sunday Lower Woodland Kickball Season. More destiny than coincidence, indeed all season long, it was the Cowbell's and the Bitches' world, and the other teams were just living in it. Both teams remained undefeated late into the season until Cowbell suffered a loss at the hands of- you guessed it- See You At Recess Bitches. Would they taste their sweet revenge in the finals, or would the Bitches prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that their first win was no fluke and that there was no other word for them but "champions"?
Both teams kicked their way through the competition all day. Noble efforts were made by both the Habitual Offenders and Alchoseltzer Please, the latter making a late comeback against Cowbell in their semi final round only to fall a few runs short.
The Championship drew a large crowd and the grounds crew had to be called in to clean up all the trash that was being talked between the two teams. They knew each other all too well; you might even call them "friends", but the blood was in the water at game time.
A few quick scoreless innings passed and the debate raged. The long bombs of Kaz vs the long bombs of Phil. The masterful bunting and defense of Courtney vs. the banshee scream attack of Shandi Boyle. Who would have more pop fly outs- Nick or Val? In the end, it was a shameless lack of respect via the stealing of The Cowbell's cowbell that gave the Bitches the edge they needed to win. Play was halted for ten minutes in between innings while the theft occured, a mad bench clearing chase throughout the outfield which ended with a few botched tackles and an emergency splenectemy being performed. But the damage was done; the Bitches were inside the head of the Cowbell's and they were doing the ringing.
A few good kicks from Phil and POG Stacy Blake and it was all she wrote. Cowbell looked as if they might come back in the sixth, but confusion on the base paths killed their best chance at a rally, leaving runners on base and the team still scoreless.
These teams; these two titans played with the game in their souls on Sunday, but in the end there could be only one. Here's to you... Bitches.
Much like the World Cup's Man of the Match award, this week we have to give POTW honors to our playoff MVP- Phil from Recess Bitches. Phil kicked huge bombs and rained hellfire against opponents all day in the Bitches' Championship run, including two big RKIs in the championship game. On defense, he was just as sound in the outfield, letting nothing get by him. Congratulations, Phil and his Bitches... of Recess.
