As it turns out, simply showing up may have been enough for Buckley's to secure the championship this past Thursday, however when it was taken to the field, they definitely proved themselves worthy of the title. Their 18-12 victory in the title game was led by Kristey Mahoney who had two crucial interceptions that made the difference between victory and defeat.
With a last name like Reff, it's very hard for the Statdog not to recognize the greatness of Laura. But while the Statdog finds her name to be completely awesome, it's her game that made her Player of the Week. Laura had a long touchdown run on fourth down, to go with a touchdown pass and two catches on two-point conversion plays, in the best offensive performance by Buckley's this season. Buckley's appears to be firing on all cylinders heading into the final day of playoffs, next Thursday.
It was quite a night for Joe Westbrook as he and his teammates successfully fought off a valiant effort by Kemp's Kids in their upset bid. After falling behind 23-22, late in the game, Joe rallied the troops for a game winning drive, culminating with Westbrook being on the throwing end of the game winning touchdown, which was one of three touchdown passes on the night, to go with one touchdown catch.
Buckley's busted out in a big way on Thursday night. After a tough loss in week 1, they were determined to get a win in week 2. Leading the way in the 34-6 romp was Cory Legg, who had 2 touchdowns and one interception. One teammate was quoted after the game as saying Cory's performance was "Unbelievable".
