Last night at First Baptist, Gian R. brought the heat! He had crazy airtime on his jumps and when he was at the net blocking no ball could get past him. Four women take the court on a rainy Seattle evening. They may have taken a slow start but that did not mean they gave up. Coming up big for her team, purple hair, fierce and mighty; Angela put in the hard work. Was that a perfect set? Maybe not. But Did Angela still swing and get an aggressive kill? YES!! What was that screech? It was Angela on the ground digging the ball! Amazing hustle and effort tonight. Serves of steel? More like ANGELA of steel!

What a Match!

Sports fans - let me tell you - after 10 years of running social rec leagues, I have seen a LOT of volleyball. There was something absolutely magical about this week's 6:30pm match up. The Underdog spirit was displayed start to finish on both sides of the net and the game was just a fantastic one to watch. Thank you Chewblocca and Indy #V4 for your efforts!

Even though the match win isn't tallied in their column, Indy #v4 is this week's team of the week (there's no way to pick just one player). From sportsmanship to effort - this team gave their all and is a class act. The natural chemistry was evident in how much fun you could see them AND their opponent having. Balancing being competitive and wanting to win with the other aspects of social rec leagues is sometimes lopsided - the win is supreme... but Indy #V4 is a true Underdog team and gets that creating fun and quality effort are just as important, if not more, than logging a W.

Gabby Ivy

Balls In!

Gabby Ivy from Balls In came in clutch for her team tonight at First Baptist. In the third match of the night, Balls In was up neck to neck with their competition. Gabby seemingly was unafraid to launch herself cross-court to dive for short balls. Some players remain hesitant to dive for balls, especially when they aren't wearing knee pads... But not Gabby!! Time after time, Gabby flung herself on the ground in order to dig balls. This resulted in crucial point winning saves that ultimately helped her team to reach victory. Like a graceful penguin, she glided on her stomach... not sure who does it better.. Amazing effort tonight Gabby, congrats on being player of the week.

There's no doubt that Summer Mitchell has serous volleyball skills. However, her volleyball skill are not the only impressive attribute she brings to the court. Summer continues to put on an impressive display of sportsmanship that always have a positive impact on both her team and her competition. Summer is such a natural leader! Congrats on being player of the week Summer, can't wait to see you and your team bring the heat for finals next week!

Congrats Kirsten from Balls In for being player the week! Coming into semi finals the pressure and intensity was high. From the first serve of the night we could all see that this game was going to be a close one... and boy it sure was the game! The first match of the night Kirsten gave it her all and gave her teammates AMAZING sets! Her sets were a huge highlight of the game and allowed her team to preform seamless three touch plays. Thanks for giving it your all, you’re amazing!!
