Summer Co-ed Kickball in Ballard - Sunday Afternoons

The sun was merciless. The heat was... hot. Defense was the word in the last game of the day between Kitty Litter and Smack My Pitch Up at Ballard Boys and Girls Club. Three innings went by without even a run scoring. In the bottom of the sixth, the Pitch was up 2-1, looking to grab an upset. That was until James Lyon stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. You guessed it, folks: GRAND SLAM. Now, kickball is a fun game , of course, but I'd say that's about as heroic as it'll get in our little game. Smack My Pitch Up had a few chances in the top of the 7th to tie it up, but in the end it was too much of a crushing blow to overcome. Congrats, James. Maybe you should think about going pro?

The Kickballistics were going to win. They declared this even before entering the field at Ballard Boys and Girls Club Sunday afternoon. And win they did. They had entered 'the zone' through the back door i.e. after so many losses, you come in one day and say to yourself and anyone else who's listening: "Not today, bub". Aaron Smith's pitching and kicks earned him POG honors, but it was really a team effort all around. Congratulations on getting into the win column, guys.

Let's Kick It were the #4 seed entering the playoffs and they came away with the title in fine upset style. Along their road to victory, everyone did their part to bring home a championship. The booming kicks from Andy and Kyle. The tough defense of Johnny and Dave. The sound bunting of Kelsie and Kanae. Even Kyle's mom helped out with two singles in their first playoff game. It was a team effort all the way, and so as a team they share the MVP. Thanks for a great season, guys.
