Shawn Kemp was able to complete another perfect season, although it was not as easy as they were anticipating as Just the Tips gave them a run for their money in a very competitive 7 inning contest. They started the scoring early, with Bobby T leading off and coming around to score before the defense even knew what hit them, but Just the Tips were able to hold them to one run in the first inning. Shawn Kemp would go on to add a couple runs later in the game, and their lights-out defense led by the cousin duo at third and catcher (Nick and Bobby) did just enough to keep Just the Tips at bay. Just the Tips threatened in a few innings, but Jo K. kept it up with amazing catch after catch at second base. When it was all said and done, Shawn Kemp walked away with the victory and yet another perfect season. Will they come down to Seattle for the Red Rubber Showdown and show the other midcore teams how it's done? Only time will tell, but if they do, watch out rest of Underdog Kickball!

What a game! After spotting Ballsagna a 7-1 lead after the first inning, it was looking like a mighty uphill battle for the #1 seed, Just the Tips. They regrouped after a disastrous first, where they had multiple throwing errors and a couple costly drops, and slowly creeped back into the game, scoring 1 or 2 an inning as their defense started coming together once they figured out their catcher situation. They managed to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th, leading to a final inning showdown for all the marbles. Ballsagna must have been feeling pretty good with Ken R leading off the inning, as he had reached base in every at bat prior and driven in some big clutch runs, but he lifted a lazy fly to the center fielder and Ballsagna was not able to score, leading to the home half of the inning. Jon S led off the inning with a smooth single, which set the stage for Kymberlee and her amazing bunting skills. She dropped a beauty that caused an overthrow to first, and Jon was racing around the bases very aggressively that it drew a throw to third, only to skip by the thirdbaseman as Jon came around to score the championship winning run. Congrats to Just The Tips, as well as Ballsagna, for a very well played season.
