Shawn Kemp was able to complete another perfect season, although it was not as easy as they were anticipating as Just the Tips gave them a run for their money in a very competitive 7 inning contest. They started the scoring early, with Bobby T leading off and coming around to score before the defense even knew what hit them, but Just the Tips were able to hold them to one run in the first inning. Shawn Kemp would go on to add a couple runs later in the game, and their lights-out defense led by the cousin duo at third and catcher (Nick and Bobby) did just enough to keep Just the Tips at bay. Just the Tips threatened in a few innings, but Jo K. kept it up with amazing catch after catch at second base. When it was all said and done, Shawn Kemp walked away with the victory and yet another perfect season. Will they come down to Seattle for the Red Rubber Showdown and show the other midcore teams how it's done? Only time will tell, but if they do, watch out rest of Underdog Kickball!
This past Thursday, this umpire was privy to a play that defied belief. Paul Swanson of Shawn Kemp broke not one, but TWO pickles in one play, scoring himself and two others in the process. The play itself lasted about a minute, and was high-intensity the whole time. For performing a feat that dropped the jaws of all involved, Paul is our player of the week.
Welcome back to Everett kickball! Shawn Kemp returned in mid season form, thanks to some help from Darrin D. He crushed a grand slam to right center in the second inning and drove in 4 additional runs for a grand total of 8 in his team's 20-2 victory. Congrats guys !
