Led by Quarterback Austin Roupe, and WR/DB's Brandon Kelley, and Corey Knudtson, Chauncey Biggerstein fought through a lot of adversity, applied a lot of skill, and had a little bit of luck, on their way to staking their claim to be called champions.
In the semi-finals, after falling behind 18-13 early in the second half after an uncharacteristic interception thrown by Austin Roupe, Chauncey Biggerstein's defense stepped up to the challenge and did not allow another score, in route to a hard fought 26-18 win. After a touchdown drive put Chauncey up 20-18, Brandon Kelley made the play to permanently swing the momentum and turn the game by making a key interception, after the Freeballers had scored on three consecutive possessions.
In the other semi-final, The Replacements managed to slip by the Local Legends, despite missing their star QB Brent Clark. The Local Legends just could not sustain any momentum, and in the end, the Replacements moved on 35-31.
In the championship, the well rested bunch from Chauncey Biggerstein had enough to outlast The Replacements, who had played the previous hour. Fatigue appeared to be a factor as the winners pulled away in the end.
With the championship in the balance, Corey Knudtson took matters into his own hands, literally. Mid way through the second half, Corey stepped in front of a pass and nearly took it to the house. Two plays later, the game was out of reach as Chauncey Biggerstein had sealed the win by jumping out in front by two scores with about five minutes to play. They were then able to run out the clock and preserve the championship.
This weeks plaeyr of the week goes to Austin of "Chauncey Biggerstein". In a intense matchup, Austin lead his team on offense, with great passing, and also great rushes. He crossed the goal line plenty even if it was called back due to flags being out of place, he is this weeks player of the week! Great job Austin!
