It was a long, hot day at Maplewood but Amazon kept their cool all afternoon. After dispatching the Winner Buys Beer crew behind a big offensive afternoon outburst, they settled in to await the outcome at 4:30.
The Droolies dispatched their opponents like a fat kid vanquishes a hot fudge sundae. Thanks in no small part to their own high-powered offense.
The stage was set for a high-scoring finale, but the defenses both came to play - If not for a clutch hit from Ivie Enriquez powering the Amazon crew to a 5 run 5th inning that would prove the difference.
Thanks to all, and we hope to see you on the field again next season!
There's nothing to say about Ivie that hasn't been said before and more eloquently. On Sunday, she proved herself to be the real deal. With a championship on the line, she led the #6 seed Amazon Softball Team #3 to a shocking upset of the top-seeded Droolies...
Her grit, her determination, and (of course) her game-winning hit showed us all what a true underdog should strive for.
Way to go Ivie!!!
Matt had a great game making at least 6 catches at Short, and for nearly hitting the cycle. Great game!
