Once again the Giants are league champions. Behind the awesome pitching of Patrick and lights out defense in the outfield by Matt Ferlo, the Giants denied the Thunder Buddies their first league title. The Giants proved to be too much in the early innings ripping off 9 runs that set the Thunder Buddies back on the heels and they could not recover. The Giants have consistently been in championship games season after season have won far more than they have lost. This team has gotten better every year and their experience is why other teams don't have the firepower to deal with or match up with them in most cases. When they are on they are tough to beat. Great game Giants and congratulations on yet another championship.
After a disappointing end to game 1 of their doubleheader, They Might Be Giants were looking for a spark to get their team going and get some momentum before playoffs. That spark was provided by Dawn N who had a monster game both at the plate and in the field making some great catches in the outfield. The effort and determination given by Dawn not only brought home the victory Saturday night, but provided her team with the needed energy going into playoffs! Great job Dawn!
You wouldn't know that this was the first game of the season for the Capitol Hill league the way that They might be giants jumped out to an early comfortable lead over the vaunted Rainer Cancer Center, but going into the final inning They Might Be Giants held a nice 14-7 lead. Not to go down without a fight, Rainer Cancer Center came up with a big 10 run inning to go up by 3 runs. Stringing together some quality hits like they had earlier in the game, They Might Be Giants clawed back to even. It was then that Brandon Farrell stepped to the plate with the winning run standing on 3rd base. Brandon promptly drove a ball deep into left field to comfortably drive in the game winning run for a dramatic victory! Congrats to They Might Be Giants and to Brandon Farrell, our Player of the Week!!
