Their name said it all the minute they walked on to the field. They Might Be Giants turned out to be the titan team of the playoffs, winning three straight games to steal the crown from Eye Candy. A close semi-final game against the #1 seeded Too Drunk To Score where Gina Brown provided the big hits (3-4) was enough to put the Giants into position for the championship. The team carried that winning momentum from the past two games into the final, stomping their way to a 20-15 win against Eye Candy. Matt Ferlo provided stellar defense and came up with terrific clutch hits to keep Eye Candy's rallies at bay. Sunday permanently solidified They Might Be Giants position in the Underdog Hall of Fame as the true colossus of the league.
A hard fought battle between They Might Be Giants and Blank My Balls found Player of the Week Joe Szeto in a pressure situation with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th inning. With no hits to that point, Joe smashed a 2-out, bases clearing double, giving his team the lead heading into the 7th inning. Joe also played phenomenal defense behind the plate at catcher, making multiple plays at home to keep runners from scoring. Congratulations Joe on a terrific game and helping your team to victory!
