This game didn't start out looking too well for the Sexy Pitches. In the 1st they were down 3-0 having their inning end on an amazing triple play. ClearPoint couldn't stop the Sexy Pitches, only hope to contain them. The 'Pitches' started to roll scoring 1 run in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd to tie the game 3-3. With the momentum on the 'Pitches' side and the inspiration from their cheerleaders they scored 7 runs in 4th to pull away 10-3. They weren't satisfied with a 7 run lead, they wanted more, and they took it. They put up 2 more runs in the 5th and used their great defense to only allow one more run to take the championship 12-4. It was a great game in the rain.
Nothing helps a team more than fans cheering them on. The Sexy Pitches were the only team who had them and won the championship. Coincidence? I think not. It was Penny and Karen's cheering and willingness to stand in the rain just to cheer their team on that gave the Sexy Pitches that little something extra to win. They even made signs to add to their cheers. Love to see the fan support Penny and Karen!
Having good hands really helps when catching the ball. Julianne showed of hers, it seemed like every inning. The ball just seemed to gravitate to her and right in her arms. She wasn't too shabby at the plate either. She got on base everytime at the plate and contributed a bunch of runs for her team. Great job Julianne!
Jordan had a little difficulty keeping upright running the bases on a wet field but entertained us all with his head first slide into 3rd for an automatic out. He added 4 RBI's with some big kicks and had 2 catches in the final inning, including a diving catch on the hill near the outfield fence to end the game.
Sometimes in Kickball the guys think its cool to catch all the pop flys even if its in a girls territory. Well Lauren Deal, the captain of Sexy Pitches ain't havin none a dat. On Thursday when her male teammate tried to catch a pop fly that was her play to make, she didn't back down, but instead grabbed the ball and wrestled it from him putting him on the ground in the process. That's right girl. Get it. "Who run the world?...Girls!" Congrats Lauren you're our Player of the Week.
