Not at all intimated with facing the number 1 team in the league, & 1 in the stink proved worthy champions by coming back from a 7 run deficit in the semi final game lead by Lauren Coombs' stellar defence and clutch kicking and riding that wave in the championship match dominating a streaky Our Kicks Don't Lie team behind the masterful pitching of Tim Molitor. Though the number five seed in the playoffs, this team on this night proved that anything can happen once you get there...
It was hard to distinguish the player of the week between two deserving players (Lauren Coombs & Tim Molitor). But the nod goes to Lauren as she was the catalyst to getting her team into the finals when they upset the number 1 seeded team by making play after play at second base and providing some key base hits, ripping shot after shot down the 3rd base line. But Lauren's signature moment was in the semi final match trailing 7 - 0, she made a heads up play by gathering a relay from the outfield and turning to check on a runner who happened see if he could gain an extra base going to third but when he realized that Lauren was fully aware of what was transpiring he quickly haulted trying to slide in safely back to 2nd base but Lauren had nothing of it and calmly threw him out as he was sliding. That play seemed to change the momentum of the game and season, and the team's comeback was in motion...
