It was a game for the ages. Two of the best teams all year battling it out for 7 innings of excitement. You Thought We Blue drew first blood in the first inning but that didn't phase Mooseknucklers who never felt the pressure all season. They kept the game close with good pitching and to fight back one run at a time. However, Blue would not be denied and erupted for four runs in the later innings. Mooseknuckle felt that they had Blue on the ropes in the sixth inning but Blue pulled it together after some shaky defense. They put them away in the last inning and erupted in celebration after the third out was recorded (I even thought I saw the Goodyear Blimp flying overhead; filming). Congratulations team.
Johnny Hendrickson played centerfield as well as anyone could play. He constantly roamed the outfield and shagged balls kicked to him and around him which reminded me of the 'Black Hole' of Cascade Park (another outfield legend in Kickball). Johnny had some booming kicks on offense, however, they were caught by the other team. He kept his team close and the score, for that matter, with his stellar defense. Great job Johnny. Tanner Townsend and Caitlin Smethurst. had a great week too but Johnny beat them out this week. Great job to all those who played this week and I expect some more great plays next week.
Johnny "Bonds" Hendrickson kicked our first homerun at Cascade Park on Monday night. It was a shot to left center that made it to the sidewalk by 2-3 feet. From way off in Bristol, Chris Berman could be heard yelling, "Back-back-back-back-gone!"
Johnny Hendrickson's name has not been mentioned in the Bonds-Sheffield-BALCO investigation.
You could say she was harnassing her "che", but Jen Parraz put 110% into each play, especially on offense as her duck, dive, and weave style had her causing trouble on the basepath all day.
She was no stranger to the dirt either, wasting no time getting the shirt dirty and earning the title "Super-Sub"...
