Frank's L'il Sluggers are Spring League champs once again. On Thursday night in an intense and epic match up with power house All Star Super Stars, this team shined late with hitting and defense holding the Super Stars under their usual run average and giving themselves a chance at a title. Led by Anna Huntington who was on fire at the plate also pitched a helluva game, muzzling Super Star bats late into the game. On defense Jeanette led the way with a display of Gold Glove work rarely seen from female players. She also batted 4 for 4 with two key hits late in the game that scored 2 runs and helped pad the lead heading into the 7th. This is a great win for an awesome team and we look forward to seeing you guys and gals in a few weeks for another round of USL softball. Congratulations!!

Led by Anna Huntington who was on fire at the plate also pitched a helluva game, muzzling Super Star bats late into the game giving her team the chance that they needed in the later innings to pull out the win. On defense Jeanette led the way with a display of Gold Glove work rarely seen by female players. She also batted 4 for 4 with two key hits late in the game that scored 2 runs and helped pad the lead heading into the 7th. After holding the Super Stars scoreless in the top half of the 7th, game over, good night, drive safe and we look forward to seeing you guys and gals in a few weeks for another round of USL softball. Frank's L'il Sluggers are right now playing softball at a very high level from the top of their lineup to the bottom. This team has gotten stronger and stronger each year that I have known them and I must say, to see their transformation from where they started a few years back to where they are now has been a thing of beauty to watch. They took their lumps, they went through their growing pains as a team and despite losing more than they won early on, they hung in there, stayed committed to each other and now they are considered one of a handful of upper echelon teams that play in USL. These types of teams destroy other teams regularly and have to fight it out between themselves at season's end to find out who's the real big dog on the block. Last night they absolutely destroyed both opponents and are looking down the road for a date with the other league big dog All Star Super Stars. Led by Amelia Ren, who is hands down one of the best female softball players in the Seattle area if not Washington state, this team requires that you bring your A game. If you do not, it's going to be a really long night for you. Great win guys and gals and great game again and as always Amelia!
Team sports offer the rare combination of competition while simultaneously getting to be with and cheer on your friends. Players of the week for Underdog exemplify both of these these very different qualities. Sam Holman for Frank's Li'l Sluggers is a great example of this. In their two games this week, Sam slugged his way to a 6-8 performance with 3 home runs, a triple, and two doubles, while covering more than his share of outfield territory. Sam was also heard cheering his on his teammates and was nothing but supportive even they ultimately lost their second game.
Well, we have just kicked the Spring league off on Capital Hill and already the competition is already hot. In an epic USL battle on Tuesday night, Frank's Little Sluggers used some grit, some hustle and some inspiring hitting to get by power house Super Stars. What a great way to start a season off and we look forward to seeing you guys and gals in action next week.
