Both Stinky Fingers and Rattlesnakes & Condoms had to overcome obstacles to reach the title game. In the first game, Rattlesnakes & Condoms need a late rally in the fifth inning led by Joe McNeil to overcome an early deficit to defeat Angry Pirates. In the second semifinal, Stinky Fingers played the first four innings with only 8 players, but that did not stop them from jumping out to an early lead over Balls In Your Face on their way to a win.
The championship game featured the top two seeds. Rattlesnakes & Condoms jumped out to an early lead, but Stinky Fingers would not be denied. Stinky Fingers was able to score in every inning led by the speed of Marnie and the power of Tyler on their way to a championshp.
With Stinky Fingers being down two people at the start of the semifinal game, they asked Tyler to cover centerfield all by himself. Tyler seemed up to the task when in the first inning Angry Pirates tried to test his range by kicking a ball to shallow right field. Tyler came up with a spectacular sliding catch. He continued with that great defense in centerfield while helping his team at the plate by driving in a couple of runs and scoring a couple more. Tyler's defense and offense continued in the championship game as Stinky Fingers came away with the title.
1st cool thing Tyler did was do a diving catch in outfield that he ended up tucking under and barrel rolling with ball in hand. The 2nd was when this gal was unsuspecting as a sitting duck walking back to her base after he caught the pop fly, and lobbed the ball over to her at 1st and got her right on the shoulder for the double play. Nice work
It must have been the pre-game drinks or maybe it was just time, but Stover and Chris finally got it together today. With the win solidified, these guys relaxed and got some great kicks in. Stover had the booming kick over 1st straight down the line, and Chris had a sweet placement plopped straight down just over 2nd. These guys earned it today. Lets see more of those great kicks next week
Tyler was playing outfield. Doing the routine bit of being Tyler. A pop fly comes his way a bit short and (apparently) he pulls a hat trick and just barely gets his toe under the ball to pop it up for his other teammate to catch the volley. However.. it LOOKED like it hit the ground, because toes tend to be so small, so we'll just say Tyler got robbed today for a great play. He did continue to make great plays through the game though, making sweet legitimate catches to help his team to victory.
Brian had that wicked curve of a kick and just happened to hit it to the right person with a bit of butterfinger action. So congratulations Brian on the 3 rbi's you just added to your stats! :)
